AAUW Greater Richmond Branch Local Scholarship

Guidelines for the 2011 Scholarship Applicant


Our 2011 scholarship has been granted! Please come back in early 2012 for instructions for applying for the Fall 2012 scholarships.


The AAUW Greater Richmond Branch scholarships are distributed through the finance offices of Richmond area colleges or universities.

In this initial year of the AAUW Greater Richmond Scholarship, we will be looking for candidates at four area universities: Virginia Commonwealth University, Virginia State University, University of Richmond, and Randolph Macon. The scholarship amount is likely to be $1,000.

Review these criteria for the AAUW award. Preference is given to women who are:
a) At least 30 years of age.
b) Legal residents of Virginia attending a regionally accredited Richmond area college or university. Returning to school to complete a bachelor’s degree.
c) Considered to be a college junior or senior in Fall 2011 (full or part time).
d) Seeking funds for tuition and/or supplemental expenses (e.g., books, fees, childcare, and/or transportation).
e) In good academic standing.
f) Applicants majoring in all academic fields are encouraged to apply. Those majoring in any of the following programs will be given additional consideration: Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, and other non-traditional majors.

Arrange for the following to be sent:
a) Academic transcript from current or most recent institution.
b) Two letters of reference from people who know you well (not family members).
